Carers Group meet up

12/3/2025

The Charlton Neighbourhood House was excited to have representatives from Mallee Family Care and Northern District Community Health come along to our recent Carers Group lunch at the East Charlton Hotel. A large group of attendees were provided information and access to answers to a myriad of questions relating to mental health, disaster funding, legal aid and much more. Informative flyers and literature were available to take, and everyone present commented on what a wonderful afternoon it was.
Carers groups are incredibly important as they provide vital support and resources for those who dedicate their time and energy to looking after others. Caring for someone can be rewarding but also emotionally taxing. Carers groups offer a safe space to share experiences, feelings, and frustrations with people who truly understand. Members of these groups often share tips and strategies for managing caregiving tasks, navigating healthcare systems, and addressing specific challenges.
The Charlton carers Group meet monthly for a social lunch and to listen to a range of speakers from various organizations. Lunch is provided for at a subsidised price with drinks at bar prices. A special thanks must go to Carol Bennett for all the time she puts into making these days such a wonderful success. For all enquiries contact the Charlton Neighbourhood House on 0473 759 456.

Carers & Seniors Celebration

12/10/2023

The Charlton Neighbourhood House was pleased to host a very special free movie session at the Rex Theatre to celebrate our towns wonderful carers and Seniors Week. A crowd of both local residents and others from across the Buloke Shire were entertained with the Doris Day, Howard Keel classic ‘Calamity Jane’. With numerous foot tapping tunes and a terrific cast there wasn’t a disappointed attendee in the house.  The Neighbourhood House thanks Carers Victoria for its generous support of this initiative to recognise the contribution of those who care for family members or friends, and our districts older residents who helped forge the community we live in today.
The Charlton Carers Group meet on the second Tuesday of each month at the East Charlton Hotel for a light lunch, fellowship, and a guest speaker. For all enquiries contact the Neighbourhood House on 0473 759 456.
