The Charlton Neighbourhood House is one step closer to opening its doors with the appointment of a new coordinator. The Committee of Governance is pleased to announce that Kim Laffin will be undertaking the role.

Kim has 34 years’ experience in the Public Health sector, with a strong background in community development and health promotion. Kim has already commenced working with the Committee of Governance in a volunteer capacity to assist in the planning for the House. She said, “I am excited to be selected to perform this role, as I have a strong passion for the Charlton community, and I am really looking forward to working with the Charlton residents.”
No two Neighbourhood Houses are the same as the programs and services are determined by the needs of the community. Kim said “I look forward to meeting with local individuals, groups and organisations within the community to identifying their needs and then working with those people to develop appropriate programs, activities and services to meet those needs. This is an opportunity to empower the Charlton people to be involved in the decision making, have ownership and to make positive decisions regarding their own health, learning and community.”

CNH Committee of Governance President Kaylene Cossar stated “We were excited to receive many strong applications for the position and our committee believes that Kim will be an excellent coordinator for the new Charlton Neighbourhood House. She has enormous experience in community development, project management, grant writing and working with government departments, along with terrific administrative and computer skills. Kim was instrumental in working as part of a subgroup to commence the Charlton Community Newsletter and we are confident, she will help the committee achieve many more great outcomes for the Charlton community.”

The Charlton Neighbourhood House is located at the Rex Theatre. The initial hours of business will be Monday to Friday 10am-12.30pm and then 1pm-4.30pm.

The CNH Committee would like to extend an invitation to all Charlton community members to attend its Official coffee and cake launch at 10am Monday 18th February. Pop in and chat to Kim or any of the committee members and meet Neighbourhood House Victoria CEO Nicole Battle. Help shape the direction of the house by having your input.
