A terrific evening was recently enjoyed at the Avoca River Travellers Rest BBQ area when the Charlton Neighbourhood House arranged a fun evening specifically for men. With support from Buloke Shire, cook extraordinaire Ian Scott hosted the dozen participants with a friendly BBQ and drinks. Well-known around town for his cooking prowess, Ian gave some tips on preparing and serving the perfect steak. The ‘Steak with a mate’ concept aimed at bringing men together in a friendly social atmosphere to enjoy some banter, a meal and a few drinks.
Mateship is crucial for building strong, supportive relationships, fostering trust and collaboration. It encourages emotional well-being by providing a sense of belonging and loyalty. In challenging times, mateship offers strength, shared experiences, and mutual care. It strengthens communities and enhances resilience, making individuals feel valued and connected. With funding from Buloke Shire the evening could be made available free of charge which was much appreciated by all involved.
