The Charlton Community is excited with having access to facilities at Charlton College to get involved with one of the hottest sports going around: Pickleball. For the uninitiated, Pickleball is a racket or paddle sport in which two or four players use a smooth-faced paddle to hit a perforated, hollow plastic ball over a 34-inch-high (0.86 m) net (until one side cannot return the ball or commits a rule infraction). Pickleball is played indoors and outdoors.
With terrific support from the Department of Sport and Recreation, Buloke Shire and Mallee Sports Assembly, residents meet weekly on a Wednesday morning at 8;45am for a session that usually lasts for around an hour. Playing Pickleball offers numerous health benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, enhanced muscle strength, better balance, and increased social interaction.
