The Charlton Neighbourhood House has hit the ground running for 2025 with many successful activities already being hosted, and plenty more exciting programs coming soon.
It is first worth recognizing the success of one of their 2024 events which was successful in winning both the Charlton and Buloke Shire Event of the Year at the recent Australia Day ceremonies. With leadership by Bronwyn Fisher, The Blue Tree Project highlights to our community and visitors the message of mental health and suicide awareness. The support from the Shire, schools, health sector and broader community ensured the important project was a worthy winner. Popular programs have returned to the Charlton Pool such as Gentle Water Exercise and Early Morning Swimming while the Lino Cut workshop was a great success with many terrific artworks being produced. Upcoming art-themed workshops include watercolours, weaving, photography and recycled baskets. Regular activities such as Book Club, Storytime, Table for 12, Yarning Group, children's Jazz dance classes, Carers Group as well as support for the FLO Café all continue. The Charlton Neighbourhood House was so very pleased to have its Blue Tree Project awarded both Event of the Year for the Charlton community as well as the Buloke Shire. With Bronwyn Fisher taking the lead, this project tackled the important issue of suicide and mental health. Representing the CNH at the awards ceremony were Brondwyn Fisher, Mia Ayars and Kaylene Cossar. Well done to everyone who participated to make the event come to fruition.
We thank everyone who took time to complete our survey here at the CNH. The Neighbourhood Houses Victoria Annual Survey collects crucial data on the services and operations of Neighbourhood Houses across Victoria. Conducted annually, the survey gathers information on participation rates, programs and services, infrastructure, governance, income, volunteers, partnerships, workforce, and more. The results help to understand the impact and value of Neighbourhood Houses, providing evidence to support funding and improvements. The survey is mandatory for houses receiving NHCP funding and involves both administrative data and participant feedback. The collected data is used to produce comprehensive reports that inform stakeholders and guide future development.
